REPORT FROM KISSAMOS BAY AREA

Highlight of the month PIED KINGFISHER Ceryle rudis on the 13^th

Migrants arriving in good numbers now.

Barn Swallow on the 3^rd

Nightjar on the 6^th

50+ Common Buzzard move north on the 7^th 10^th  11^th and 12^th

Subalpine Warblers arrive on the 8^th and Lesser Kestrels seen.

On the 9^th our first sighting of Ruppell’s Warbler and a Woodchat Shrike makes its appearance.

First Swifts seen 10^th

Alpine Swift and Tree Pipit, Goshawk and Marsh Harrier on the 11^th

Yellow Wagtails, Wood and Green Sandpipers on the 12^th

The Black Redstarts depart their night roosts on the 13^th

Pallid Harrier on the 21^st

Red-rumped Swallow seen on the 27^st

Visits to Agia on the 2^nd 12^th and 17^th

A four day visit to Omalos 17^TH-20^TH

We get really excellent views of Lammergeier at Omalos and our first for some time now of one over Gramvousa on the 21st.

Also at Omalos an adult and juvenile Golden Eagle circle over us.

A wander along Gramvousa on the 28^th for migrants at Agios Arini church, with good Bonelli’s views.

Plants seem really early with the Omalos species in flower mid month even though night temperatures were down to -5oC on the 18^th
